You have come to the right place! Here’s some ideas you may want to try just to get you started. Once you get out and about you’ll find there are so many options throughout the year and seasons that it is hard to accomplish everything. There just isn’t enough time.

When you come………If you are looking for a place to park your Motor home or travel trailer there are many fine RV Parks and Resorts in the area.

RiverPark RV Resort is located just outside Grants Pass at 2956 Rogue River Highway. They have 700′ of River frontage along the Rogue River, lots of Paved RV sites with 30 & 50 amp service, Wi-fi and Cable TV and more. BridgeView RV Resort is located up river from Grants Pass at 8880 Rogue River Highway, about 1/4 mile down river form I-5 exit 48. They are setup very similar to RiverPark RV. They have 400 feet of River frontage. I’ve included the links to their web pages so you can see for yourself. Both resorts are a great place to kick back and relax while the river and the wildlife along the river put on a show. They also make great places to base out of for exploring the region and enjoying some of the activities listed above.

ENJOY!!!

We headed out early to pick up some fresh foods for the coming week. Large brown eggs (and I mean Large!) from White Hair Ranch, then it is over to Berry Berry Good Produce for some lettuce and onions. I’m getting a bit ahead of myself though…… First stop is always Maria’s Tamales for Pork and Spinach Tamales. Wouldn’t be Saturday without them. After the tamale and stops at our favorite stands we move on through the rest of the stands to see what else we may want to add to our bounty.

For more pictures andthe rest of the story …..A couple of weeks ago we picked up most of the plants for our garden, Besides fresh vegetables, food, and plants, there is always stands selling everything from Outdoor furniture to Stained Glass and even a gentleman selling Plants that Eat Bugs. When you are through checking out the Grower’s Market, it is always fun to meander through the Artisan & Crafter’s Market that is just across the street.

Sometimes called; Farmers Market and Saturday Market, it is a great way to start the weekend.

Every Saturday Beginning in mid March, and running till Thanks Giving the Growers Market is a must do for the residents and visitors to the Grants Pass area. Every week it Showcases the finest fresh fruits and vegetables growing in the Southern Oregon region, as well as secondary wood products, gourmet specialty foods, artists and crafters. Members attend from Medford, Butte Falls, Winston, Canyonville, Gold Hill, Roseburg and the Illinois Valley.

You really should check it out. When you do you’ll find what a great event it is and well worth returning time and time again. Located at F & 4th street, the hours are 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM.
For Information about Grants Pass Growers Market Call 476-5375

Here are a couple of our favorite Vendors we visit every Saturday.

Maria’s Tamales
The best authentic Tamales you will find anywhere. Like so many others, we are there every Saturday morning for a Tamale. Pork, Chicken, Beef, and Spinach, add a little red and green salsa …..”What a great way to start out the day”. It pays to get there early. The line forms early and stays that way most of the morning. Customers will get 1 or 2 to eat right there at the market or buy them by the bag full to take back home for later. If you can’t make it to Grants Pass on Saturday morning, you will find Maria’s Tamales on Tuesday at the Ashland Growers Market or on Thursday at the Medford Growers Market. Truly a wonderful treat.

White Hare Ranch – Fresh Brown Eggs
We haven’t seen Earl at the market since last year, but I wanted to add him here in our list of favorites. He has great eggs. Always fresh and some of the largest chicken eggs I have ever seen. When we would comment about it he would just beam. His eggs were so popular that often by 10:00 AM he would be sold out. When shopping should you find eggs on the shelf from the White Hare Ranch you may be assured they are of excellent quality.

Mapco Industries
Mapco is an Oregon Family Handcrafted wood products company located in White City, Oregon. The products they produce are constructed from Native Oregon woods derived from salvage and tree farms. A portion of the materials used are cut from logs in their own sawmill. The balance is remanufactured at the mill work site.

Products produced by Mapco consist of everything from planter boxes to tables, chairs and swings. They are a regular at the Grants Pass Growers Market every Saturday. Stop by and say Hello Tell them you heard about them on the Web.
Here is an address & phone number for more information:
McLoughlin taken from the top of Mt Ashland. On a bluebird day the view doesn’t get much better than this!

Just got back from Mt. Ashland.

What a beautiful day. Sunshine, snow and spring in Southern Oregon …….. what a great combination. Very possibly this will be the last weekend of skiing at Mt Ashland for the season. If there is enough interest, Kim the GM said they will go ahead and open next weekend as well. Reminds me of my younger days. I can remember snow skiing at Mt. Ashland in the morning and water skiing at Emigrant Lake in the afternoon. Yes I’m sure the water was cold, but years later you overlook the details and just tell the story.

Get out and support Mt. Ashland this weekend. It’s great having the mountain so close at hand.

If you haven’t noticed I would just like to mention the fact that it is still light a 5:00 PM and won’t be long until it is light at 7:00AM. There’s hope!

Living on the Rogue River affords some advantages that many people never get to experience.

Morning fishing: November 6, 2007, It’s another foggy morning In Grants Pass, Oregon. After a cup of coffee with the wife I head out across the back lawn to the staircase that leads to the edge of the Rogue River just below the clam beds riffle. As I approach the edge of the river I see a fish turn and take it as a good sign. A quick look at my watch tells me I have about 30 minutes to fish this morning before I need to head to the office.

I bait up (like to use night crawlers when fishing from the bank), and after about 3 or 4 casts I feel a strike. A quick jerk of the pole and …. Nothing….. Missed it: But I know it was a fish. The bait is half gone. Another cast to the same spot and a couple of seconds later another strike, and this time when I jerk the fish breaks water and the fight is on. The fish makes a couple of runs and jumps several times before I get it close to shore. I grab the net and try to net it but I am unsuccessful and he runs again. The next time I drag it almost out of the water and slide the net up behind it and I have it. A 26” Native female bright as can be. I remove the hook and slip her back in the water to find her way up the river to do what she is there to do. It is time to get to the office and start my day. No fish for dinner tonight but what a way to start the day.
